“ A green lung in a densely urban area.” Sir Gerald Kaufman MP 1930 - 2017 Home

This project was started in 2012 to give people the chance to enjoy a gardening experience whilst also learning new skills and helping the park.

Work is varied according to the season and people’s interest and capabilities. It could involve tidying up a flower bed, planting new plants, pruning shrubs or cutting the grass verges.  The Friends have provided equipment such as two new lawn mowers, a tractor mower and strimmer.

In 2015 the Friends contacted Seetec welfare-to-work providers to register as a placement location. As a result we now have a team of volunteers that work in the work each day, except Tuesday, starting at 9.00am and meeting at the Aviary Community Rooms.

After a year of activity they have begun to make a real impact on improving the look of the park working on a wide variety of tasks.

Anyone is welcome to join in for however long and whenever convenient.

Every little helps! just turn up and we can provide the tools and direction.
