News Update 17th September 2016

1.  Volunteer Gardening Programme:

The Volunteer Gardening Programme celebrates its first year.

In August we celebrated the great work being done in the park by volunteers. It is now just a year since we began our link with Seetec's welfare-to-work programme which has seen the daily presence of our team of volunteers working around the park.

They have made a tremendous difference, restoring flower beds, repairing fences, creating new features such as the Wild Life Walk and generally keeping the place tidy.

In recognition of their work the Treasurer of the Friends presented them a Certificate of Achievement and letters of commendation together with some cream cakes.

The team meet each weekday (except Tuesday) at the Aviary at 9.00am - anyone is welcome to turn up and join in. Working in the park really is its own reward and helps to keep you fit!

2.  New Playground Opening:

The newly installed Playground was officially opened on Gorton Carnival day (4th September).

The other projects in the park that were officially opened on the same day were:

    Gorton Heritage Trail

    The Aviary Activity Room

    Foundation Years Nursery New Classroom
